The word “mundane” is derived from the word mundus, meaning world in Latin. The modern meaning of mundane conveys an idea of earthly things, objects uninteresting compared to the pleasures of heaven. Yet, I challenge the conventional, finding intimacy and beauty in mundus. Haphazardly strung laundry colored in pinks and oranges, two birds caught in their flight past a snaking serenity of ivy, and a man through the milky white mesh disturb our definition of mundane. These photos are private yet rich in textures, colors, and feelings. Mundus manifests hints of the heavens, for it is painted in the colors of our world.
